Kiev Grand Ballet, one of Ukraine’s leading ballet houses, will return to Finland at the beginning of next year with Swan Lake, one of its’ most beloved ballets. Classical ballet composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. More than a century after it was composed, it is still the most danced ballet in the world – and considered by many the most beautiful ballet. Swan Lake tells the story of love and the eternal struggle between light and dark, which the ballets’ black and white swan symbolizes. Swan Lake contains all the rich elements of 17th-century romantic ballet, and it is considered the pinnacle of classical dance as we know it today.

In Finland, the role of Odette-Odile alternates with Vaganova, one of the world’s most respected Japanese Ballet Academy graduate Mie Nagasava and and Argentinian Ana Sophia Scheller, who has danced as the principal dancer at the New York City Ballet. In the role of Prince Siegfrid will be Ukrainian Viktor Tomashek, winner of numerous international awards, and a graduate of the prestigious Kiev State Choreographic School. The dancers of the Kiev Grand Ballet charm with their subtle technique, musicality and dance with lightness. Exquisite costumes and stunning sets complete the ballet enjoyment. I am of the opinion, that, like Shakespeare, Tchaikovsky belongs to all mankind. Ballet is a universal language. It does not feel boundaries, says Alexander Stoyanov, founder and artistic director of the Kiev Grand Ballet. Since 2014, Kiev Grand Ballet has delighted audiences in the USA, Canada, Australia, all over Europe and Scandinavia. Most of the dancers are Ukrainians, only some of the dancers come Japan, USA, Italy and Spain. In Finland, the Kiev Grand Ballet was last seen in early 2024.
